ELSTREE STUDIOS’ 100TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATIONS ANNOUNCED

Elstree Studios are proudly celebrating our centenary, marking 100 years at the heart of British film and television. Since opening in 1925, Elstree has been home to some of the most iconic productions in screen history, from classic films to world-renowned TV shows. This landmark anniversary will be honoured with a series of special events and celebrations throughout the year, bringing together fans, filmmakers, and the local community to pay tribute to a century of creativity.

As part of Elstree Studios’ 100th anniversary celebrations, we are delighted to present a season of special film and television screenings this autumn and winter. Each title has been carefully chosen to honor Elstree’s remarkable heritage and the productions that have shaped its legacy.

A Royal seal of approval
We were honoured to welcome His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh to Elstree Studios as part of our centenary celebrations, The Duke toured the studio, visiting productions including Eastenders and The Thomas Crown Affair, before unveiling a plaque to mark 100 years of filmmaking at Elstree.

We're officially amazing!
We’re proud to announce that in partnership with the Old Royal Naval College, Elstree Studios officially set a Guinness World Record for the Largest gathering of people dressed as on-screen characters, with 874 participants celebrating both our centenaries and the magic of film and TV.

The Dam Busters
Elstree Studios had the honour of hosting a special screening of the iconic British War Film, The Dam Busters in a truly fitting setting, an authentic aircraft hangar at Elstree Aerodrome.

Village of the Damned
Returning to the very location it was filmed in over 65 years ago, we were delighted to host a special screening of Village of the Damned in Letchmore Heath at the Aldenham War Memorial Hall.
