Lifecast help dupe the judges - with a little Hanky Panky!
20th December 2011
Cheeky double-act, Chris and Wes completely fooled Sky television’s GOT TO DANCE judges on Sunday – by appearing in disguise as a couple of 70-year-old decrepid morris dancers called Hanky Panky.
Lifecast’s John Schoonraad transformed the young dynamic duo who won last years’ GOT TO DANCE with their unique style of hiphop, street dance and abstract moves. The couple spent several days in the Lifecast studios working on their moves before Chris became a wobbly old man and Wes turned into a creaking old lady, complete with long, silver plaits.
The duo danced before judges West End star and actor, Adam Garcia, singer and trained dancer Kimberly Wyatt; and Ashley Banjo, lead dancer and choreographer of Diversity, in a warm-up special heralding the official launch of GOT TO DANCE on January 1, 2012. The show, hosted by Davina McCall, offers the most talented dance floor divas the chance to win £250,000.
John Schoonraad, Lifecast’s creative designer managing director, remembers: “It was a really fun job. They both had fantastic energy and were a delight to work with. They even did a dance routine in the studio which culminated in a back somersault!
“The prosthetics were constructed using high grade silicon and took two and a half hours each to apply. Chris’s high hairstyle was quite difficult to tame but we managed it. They didn’t see what they looked like until the end and were truly stunned with the results.”
Catch Chris and Wes in their own series, Chris and Wes Let’s Do This, on Sky I HD.
